Donald Findlay became an Advocate at the Scottish Bar in 1975 and a Queen's Counsel in 1988. He is renowned as being fearless in his pursuit of justice for his clients and is widely regarded as having shaped modern day cross examination practices in Scotland. Donald is the veteran of more than 700 homicide trials, making him the most instructed defence counsel in such matters in Scotland and one with a reputation throughout the United Kingdom and beyond.

Throughout his career Donald has taken a particular interest in Forensic Medicine and Science with particular reference to its application to Criminal Law trials. He has Lectured to the Diploma in Forensic Medicine students of Glasgow University, the Diploma in Forensic Medical Sciences of The Academy of Forensic Sciences, London and is a course examiner for the Society of Apothecaries of London. Donald is routinely instructed by lawyers throughout the UK for expert guidance on such matters and the cross examination of expert witnesses. He is an Honorary Fellow of The American Board of Criminal Lawyers.

Donald also accepts instructions across the whole range of prosecutions including Regulatory Crime, Health & Safety, Fatal Accident Inquiries, Disciplinary Tribunals, Sports Legislation, Human Rights and Discrimination matters.
